In honor of the 25th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II’s accession to the throne on February 6, 1952, Estée and Joseph lauder crossed the pond in 1977 to toast the enduring spirit of the British monarchy. Seventeen years after opening their first international account at Harrod’s in London, the entrepreneurs were celebrating another achievement, too: “Everyone [here] loves our beautiful cosmetics,” Estée wrote to her long-time executive assistant, Ida Stewart.
