When Jennifer Bandier opened her eponymous retail store in South Hampton in 2014 and lined the racks with a selection of elevated workout clothes, the word “athleisurewear” had yet to become a fixture in the sartorial lexicon. Fast-forward a year, and the popular term for the kind of yoga pants, sports bras, and track jackets that look as good at the gym as on the street rolls off the tongue. After a foot injury sidelined Bandier in 2011 and limited her to flexible fabrics and low-impact exercise, she started scouring the globe for a functional wardrobe that didn’t scrimp on style. Her store’s stock is a reflection of the same acute editing and informed taste. With a new, second location in Manhattan’s Flatiron district and an e-commerce platform on the way, the energetic blonde is becoming a powerful voice in the fitness-meet-fashion movement—and she is poised to be equally influential when it comes to proliferating well-curated playlists that move you. As a former music industry vet (Bandier managed TLC as well as number of other groups), the New York-based powerhouse plans on adding a selection of soundtracks for spinning, running, yoga, et al to her Web platform when it launches this month. Here, she shares an exclusive selection of songs with The Estée Edit to help you power through your next bootcamp binge.
